About Me
A little bit about how I got here
I first became interested in photography 17 years ago whilst living in the Bavarian Alp in Southern Germany. Waking up everyday and looking out at the mountains throughout the seasons I wanted to capture the way the moonlight illuminated the mountains, the deep crisp snow hanging from pine trees, the crisp blue sky on an autumn morning. I carried on taking pictures as I travelled through Asia and Australasia capturing the changing face of the scenery from the hustle and bustle of Bangkok to the majestic tranquillity of Mount Cook in New Zealand.
I first came to wedding photograph as a wedding gift to my best friend and his wife. I decided that instead of a conventional gift I would document the day with my camera, as and when the moment came. My friend and his wife were so impressed with the album I presented that they actually showed my photographs to family, friends and whoever they could instead of the official photographers pictures.
From this one gift friends began to ask me to photograph their weddings.
As my photographic experience grew (and continues to grow) I have branched out in to commercial product photography, and recently portraits.
Although these were my first tentative step into wedding photography, I had and continue to attend weddings as both Videographer and assistant. Often shadowing the photographer (thus learning more and more).
I began in the good old fashioned way of photography 35mm, learning to develop and produce my prints in a conventional dark room, but with the introduction of digital photography I grasped the opportunity with both hands.
The great benefit of digital is the number of pictures that I am able to take, using large storage disks it is almost impossible to run out of space, where as with film I was limited to the amount of spare space along side my camera equipment.
